Verified Reviews of Tropicana Las Vegas a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel
Below are the verified reviews from guests that we have booked recently:
"Not for me."
Overall Score3.0/ 5
Not a four star hotel. More like a 2.5 star. The room was clean but smelled very moist and damp. The hallways smelled even worse. The carpets in the room feel sticky. Definitely disappointing for a Hilton and needs lots of renovations. Will not stay again!

"The hallways of the hotel smell like mold and mildew, it is very bad and very pungent."
Overall Score1.0/ 5
The room was nice and pretty clean. But it is a darn shame that to have to get to the hotel you have to go through the hallways which smell terribly bad from mold and mildew on the carpets that have been cleaned time and time again and that water has not been soaked out pretty. It is a health hazard to be inhaling that type of odor, especially on a daily basis for the workers. We were so glad we were only there for what was supposed to be a two night but it ended up being a one night stay. We could not wait to get out of there and not have to smell the hallways on the way to the elevator. I cannot believe that nobody else has bothered to tell you that the hallways stink badly and also that you folks have not done anything to improve or remedy the situation especially for all your workers that are there.

"Rudderless, unmotivated, lacking identity."
Overall Score3.0/ 5
Hotel is experiencing change (ownership, management, etc.) so there are many inconsistencies in execution. Rooms have not seen updates in a long time (and I expect won't see updates anytime this decade). Felt like the staff (front desk) is asked to upsell/upcharge (and they don't like it). If you are Hilton Honors skip this place, nothing here for you. Typical bogus value (for guest) resort fees here too. Can't think of any compelling reason to stay here.

"Rundown and inconvenient."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
The room itself was in the club tower which is like a half mile away from the casino/lobby/parking. The room we stayed in smelled like mildew the entire stay. The shower light didn’t work half the time and the drain drained very slowly. We were originally provided only two flat pillows and no water. On the five night our key stopped working. The pool was open for a short time 10am to 5pm but the pool towels didn’t arrive till 1pm. For what it cost to stay here we will never return. The regular Hyatt down the street was better.

"Good, Clean, Affordable, Great View of Strip"
Overall Score3.0/ 5
It was my first stay in Vegas and this was the most affordable hotel on the strip. Our room had a great view of the pool and of the strip. The hotel was over all clean. If you like a quiet stay and just need somewhere to crash without breaking the bank, this place is perfect!

"Tropicana is excellent!!!"
Overall Score5.0/ 5
The Tropicana hotel is one of the older hotels in Las Vegas but it somehow seems like a brand new one! Everything is in perfect working order! All the carpets and paint seemed fresh. It's wonderful!

"Going out of business soon!"
Overall Score1.0/ 5
Tropicana is a name of the past. It is not a family friendly hotel. They don't own most of their parking lots, close their pool at 6pm, make you pay for breakfast, charge extra fees atop of the booking and you will walk a mile to your room with your luggage, so pack light. The doors are surprisingly heavy to open and for some reason the hallway near my room smelled horrible of mold. The desk attendant of 34 years confirmed all of my complaints and states that, "Corporate doesn't care!" It's time to CLOSE DOWN the Tropicana, as it is no longer functioning as a great, not even good, hotel.

"Terrible management / undisclosed resort fees."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
We are a group of 6 travelling from Canada and US to meet in Las Vegas arriving in LV at different time. We had one bookings for three rooms. All members are listed in the reservation. Tropicana management had us waited for 3+ hours for the room. In addition, the undisclosed reort fees was another 50% of the hotel room charges. Terrible management, terrible resort. I would NOT recommend this.

"I was deceieved."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
We checked in late and the guy who checked us in took advantage of that and as a result we paid an extra $600 instead of $200 despite asking clarifying questions and making sure we understood the deal we were accepting. He told we’d be refunded the first charge and the 2nd charge would be our new total.

First room toilet didn’t flush and restroom as really dirty. Second room restroom wouldn’t stop running and the sink wouldn’t drain as it should. Restroom sink still had tooth paste on faucet. Shower was also very dirty. And restroom too. We will see if they fixed it tonight. I asked for a king bed and was given two queen beds.

"Outdated, Dirty"
Overall Score2.0/ 5
This hotel is simply outdated and not well kept. Everything is stained, most things need fixing. The air conditioning ran the entire time and never actually got down to the temperature. On top of that, we had to purchase a mini fridge from the front desk for $20 for our stay. I will say, the staff were all nice and wonderful to talk with. And whoever came to clean up our room when we were gone did such a thoughtful job lining things up and giving extra towels. If the hotel would update and do a better job cleaning up carpet stains, it really wouldn’t be too terrible.

Overall Score3.0/ 5
Didn’t like being ask to upgrade my room for more money at check in, if you don’t then your room is way in the back of another part of the hotel how does a hotel not have anymore wash cloths, had to keep asking and never did get any clean wash cloths during my stay. There was a outlet hanging out the wall when told to front desk it was taken care of immediately. The bed did sleep good and the shower was great.

Overall Score1.0/ 5
Very long walk from registration to rooms, door locks didn't work most of the time. Had to find a cortousy phone to call front desk and wait a long time for someone to come help. Even after we got new key cards, it only worked 25% of the time. Parking is insanely far away. About the only good thing I can say is the rooms were nice and clean and the beds were comfy. But the place needs to be updated bad.

"Good value for the price."
Overall Score4.0/ 5
For what we paid for, we definitely did not expect much. And that was basically what we received so we cannot complain. Room was average, the hotel lobby area was average.. but we really just needed a place to sleep and get ready, so it was perfect! I did LOVE the hot water in our shower! I was shocked that the room did not have a mini fridge. I though that was standard in all hotels regardless of lower budgets.

"A broken toilet seat and furniture from 50 years ago."
Overall Score1.0/ 5
The room merits a "not good" rating because the furniture was beyond shabby, broken toilet seat, broken desk drawer, no coffee maker or any amenities to speak of. I did not expect this from a Hilton establishment. We paid a daily resort fee of $42/day in addition to the room cost, which made the room expensive and not worth the cost. We were not happy with this hotel experience.

"Cheap Rooms = Sacrifice Standards."
Overall Score3.0/ 5
I’m sure COVID continues to create the strain for staff and service but one thing we experienced that is worth putting forth is that as a consumer we’re being asked to tolerate shortcomings that really should not be. Our hotel room had the smell of vomit in it when we checked in at 3pm. Someone from housekeeping came to the room, without our prompt, as I’m sure they were aware of the situation, to finish “cleaning the rug”. When we came back that evening, the rugs were all wet and still smelled of vomit. I wish someone would have considered how unsanitary and inconvenient that is. I don’t normally like to complain about because I’m sure you get a lot of that but it just seemed like Tropicana lacks a lot of departmental management and is stretching its staff very thin which hurts the overall product.

"Besides the rate and location, the hotel and lobby is substandard."
Overall Score3.0/ 5
Besides the rate and location, the hotel and lobby is substandard. Overall appearance is outdated and used flooring, furniture, utilities and equipment. Main problem for us was the Odor. I understand the Casino area is expected to be full of cigarette smell. However, we booked a non smoking room and discovered that the odor was terrible in our room. Unfortunately, we arrived late and didn't want the hassle of getting a different room. Will not stay there again until the place gets renovated and the HVAC system redesigned and redone.

"Unsatisfied with services rendered."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
I wasn't super happy with my stay at your hotel. I talked with a manager while I was there about additional charges on my card because of resort fees and taxes that weren't posted online when I booked the room like they were on every other hotel listing I looked at. Also while I was there on business I didn't even have time to enjoy the resort so I don't think it is fair to have to pay those fee because I literally just slept and got ready in the room. Also I was in a non smoking room and it was quite unpleasant to get off the elevator on the 15th floor and smell marijuana throughout the hallway. If you are going to have non smoking rooms it really should be the whole floor that is non smoking from all forms of smoking. It should just be limited to cigarette smoke. It made me feel sick when I smelt it that I had to set my bags down and leave for a few hours to not be around that smell. Another thing I didn't love about the hotel is that when you open the shutters to look out at the view you don't get a beautiful clear view you have to look through the shade that you have up that is dotted. I would have loved to just see the actual view and enjoy it. I feel like you also need to help the guest know what they can use in the room as well. I didn't know that we kept getting water bottles everyday so I only drank one because I didn't want to get charged for them as well as knowing if I had free WiFi. After I went and talked to the registration desk they told me we did if we were staying there we just had to put in our room number and last name but once I logged in it told me I only got 24 hours and that was it. It also said it was good speed and it wasn't, it kept logging me out off WiFi so I would have to go back and reconnect. Overall I was very unhappy with my stay at your hotel and I will never stay there again and if my friends or family ask me I will not recommend it to them.

The place was really good. Rooms were clean and cozy. my only issue was that I had missed the small text saying that there's additional fees to be paid which increased the price of my stay by 50%, so always review carefully everything that's written. Just because of this somehow fraudulent approach I give it three stars, otherwise the hotel was pretty good :).

We’ve Gone Green! We recognize the importance of protecting our planet, which is why we are proud to be implementing the following green initiatives.REDUCE•On-site water purification: Our steakhouse, Oakville Steakhouse, now has an on-site purification process that provides superior quality while minimizing the negative effects to our environment.•Energy management system: We have installed a 21st century energy management system, which improves the conversion and utilization efficiency, reduces carbon intensity and expands the use of renewable energy. •LED lighting: We are using LED lighting throughout our property, which reduces power consumption while 80% of electrical energy is converted into light energy.•Retrofit compact fluorescent bulbs: The Retrofit compact fluorescent bulbs found in our best-in-class rooms and towers are energy efficient – therefore, less electricity is wasted as heat energy. These bulbs also help reduce carbon emissions and are very durable. REUSE•Sustainable bottled water program: An empty one-liter bottle requires more than seven liters of water in its manufacturing process. That same bottle uses 162 grams of oil and results in more than 100 grams of greenhouse gas emissions – which is the approximate amount that the average car emits over one-third of a mile. With our sustainable bottled water program, we are able to reduce the quantity of bottles that we put back into the environment and therefore reduce water waste and greenhouse gases.•Opt-out of daily linen cleaning: Our guests are given the option to opt-out of having their linen cleaned daily. When guests choose not to have their sheets cleaned every day, it saves water and energy.RECYCLE•Fryer oil: Being that oil is one of the most widely used natural resources, recycling our fryer oil puts some of it back into circulation, which is a solution to the declining supply of fuel.•Food to RC Farms: By recycling leftover food that would otherwise be discarded back into the food production process, RC Farms makes it possible to produce food for less money. This less-expensive protein source aids those individuals suffering from starvation and malnourishment.•Fluorescent tubes and bulbs: Recycling fluorescent tubes and bulbs helps prevent the release of mercury into the environment and allows for the reuse of glass, metal and other materials.•Cardboard: Recycling cardboard helps eliminate the release of methane, which is a dangerous greenhouse gas.•Aluminum cans: By recycling our aluminum cans, we can greatly reduce land and water pollution, as well as decrease the energy needed to produce brand new cans.
